Mindfulness is a scientifically proven, evidence-based means of learning how to manage emotions. By learning to the skill of being present, we can decide how to relate to concurrent conditions in our lives such as stressors, depression, anxiety, rumination, racing thoughts, grief, loss, and a number of other situations. 

What we’ve done is taken the evidence-based principles and added fine-tuned them in a way that is conducive to the lifestyle of a Muslimah. For example, mindfulness means to be in the present, the here and now. Since we are praying and chances are we’re trying to learn how to improve our focus, concentration, and attention during prayers, we use this goal as one of our practices.

This course has been designed to help guide you through a structured writing experience which is used to process memories of specific events which are distressing. The program consists of 5 sittings but can be extended. Each sitting is exactly 30 minutes, not more and not less. According to the short instructions of each sitting, you will write about the distressing event in your journal. 

This course is a part of a larger trauma therapy where the client sits with the therapist and completes this exact protocol. Usually, therapists charge their full session fee for each session while the client completes each sitting. Please do not enroll in this course if you are not able to regulate emotions reasonably well. Since you will be writing about distressing topics, distress will arise, but for most this is not more than what one already experiences. Click to learn more.
