About This Program
This program is intended to help you revolutionize the way you view and manage circumstances, thoughts, and emotions. By learning how to focus your attention on the present moment in a non-judgmental manner, you may be able to develop more acceptance, forgiveness, compassion, and flexibility in a way that helps you live a more intentional life. The benefits of mindfulness include decreased stress, a relaxed, less tense body, enhanced ability to deal with illness, chronic pain, and better emotional management. When you have those in your life, you may find the following benefits:
- Higher brain functioning;
- Increased immune function;
- Lowered blood pressure;
- Lowered heart rate;
- Increased awareness;
- Increased attention and focus;
- Increased clarity in thinking and perception;
- Lowered anxiety levels;
- Experience of being calm and internally still;
- Experience of feeling connected.
What we do differently than a traditional MBSR program is that we take Islamic principles to help formulate our WHY and HOW to begin working toward this way of being. We connect ourselves with the most meaningful intention of all and help keep our motivation.
In this program, we use meaningful practices that we already do as Muslims and work on doing them better. For example, many individuals want to improve their focus in prayer. We have built in practices just so it’s not something extra that we do – we are just going to learn to do it a bit better in sha Allah.
Feel free to have a look at the curriculum. It’s robust, but please don’t feel overwhelmed. You can go at your own speed, repeat topics, reduce the number of daily practices or even customize what you do within it.
